French “A-Classic” Grand Prix Sanguinet 2017: 2-5 June

(“A-Classic” is a new separated dedicted floating class and not recognized by International A-Class Association which is the only official A-Class org.)
Foiling A-Cats is one of the best things I’ve done, but is clear aside the great fun and learning process many prefer to continue racing in floating mode. In the US there is already have a defacto A-Classic separation with the split of rankings in every US A-Class Assoc, but they still are racing under the same Assoc.
Italy and Europe have formalized a separated Class.

Foiling upwind will bring even more gap in the IACA regattas , but at the same time even greater challenges, and the A-Cat is the devel Class by excellence so is bussines as usual as Day 1 the Class was formed with a simple box rule framwework to allow development.

Having a group of sailors staying in floating mode is a practical move and in the end it will keep more sailors involved and sailing A-Cat platforms and these A-Classic full floating platforms can also be upgraded to foiling at any time.

Find below dates and details for coming A-Classic regattas in France & Italy.

Report sent by  Letrenne Gerard. – “We are looking forward to the 2017 A-Classic National and we expect at least 30/40 A Classic sailors in Sanguinet ( a famous lake in the South-west of France near Atlantic coast and Bordeaux). The Regatta will be hosted by hosted by the Sanguinet Sailing Club, which is a very well known from all A class sailors.

In France we have created a new A Class named “ACCF”  (A Cat Classic France) recognized and supported by French Federation Sailing (FFV). Today we have about 50 members to the ACCF and we have a 10 event National regatta calendar. Our website is https://acatclassicfrance.net/.
