Olympics& N17: Sweden Racing Flight Control

Sweden Racing were training with Bissaro-Sicouri in Italy, both teams with two top level helms and two hardcore girl crewing. Silvia Sicouri has lots of experience in the F16/F18 and Hanna Klinga is showing in this video an impressive way of controlling the spi on a flighting lift. This is the first video where the N17 crews manage to control and continue in full speed.

They are going for double trapeze downwind, later will publish an update from Bissaro-Sicouri with more details.

Maybe for 2020 we will have the Winglets? Why not for Rio? Easy add on for all boats and having these boats with controlled airborne moments could boost Multis exposure.

Curious, did the crew recover by easing kite (not a complete release, just letting it float out a bit) and moving forward (she was already far forward, but you can see her bend her leg and lean into the front of the boat a lot).

With low res its hard to sea exactly what was done, thoughts?

She anticipates and sheet in, then releases, sheet in again & move forward , impressive crew work by Hanna. Tim seems to release main.

I stabilize the video to have a better motion, I asked Tim for the orginal. Check their fb page for the shaky one.

No chance to have winglets on the rudders for nacra, they have enough trouble to keep the boat afloat or the boards in one piece or the rudders from breaking. Its not good

you are right, they can´t keep the boat afloat, they are flying

Thanks CSN: I speculated that the crew's biggest challenge will be relearning where to move their bodies going downwind… looks like they are getting the hang of it. I can imagine it feels very odd moving forward in big breeze for the first few sails.. we are all just used to getting as far back as possible!
