Taming the Olympic Cat

As remarked once, fine tuning of the curved boards is going to be key for this boat. GoforGoldTeam training on the Nacra 17.

I think someone need to tell them that with double trap conditions downwind you need to raise your boards no matter if you have curved or straight! Check video below for more flight time.

Lots of teams receving their boats and already sailing. More news later. Follow Austraians Thomas Zajak & Tanja Frank at  https://www.facebook.com/goforgold2016

And now the boats breaking all things, nobody can train in Palma now because mast is breaking' the daggers break too and even rudders break.

  2. CSN says:

If they use the boat in this way, double trap and both boards fully down they are going to break them for sure, you don´t do that not even on an F18 with straight boards.

    How they broke them?

If its faster to sail that way then at Olympics they will do it, so better to make good quality daggerboard to handle this style of sailing. Olympics is not for fun. It's serious business and many people spend big money a lot of time on this. and bad equipment is not acceptable.

  4. CSN says:

Faster?? how can that vertical lift can be faster??

As Multihull community that is returning to the Games, what we don´t need is to start a 'hate' campaign on a broken dagger, lets wait for a great % of the boats recently delivered to fail , to start making waves on quality…

If they make it fly right then it can maybe faster. I not start fighting here but there is some problems for teams to train now. Making Olympic equipment strong for the job is number 1 priority

  6. CSN says:

Of course we are not going to start another BS fight like the last time on the Olympic selection.

It is easy, comments with bad vibes should be signed, that is one effective filter for those who only want to "stir the pot".

Tehcnical comments are not an issue of course.

  7. CSN says:

Agree. But if your team have an issue better to contact the builder directly than starting futeless discussions her,e so they can fix it for you if needed.

Regarding flying This boat is not designed to 'Fly' or foil, this is more Artemis like conf.

Full flight mode are ETNZ & Luna Rossa.

If I recall well this flying F20C lost that race meters from the finish line : https://catsailingnews.com/2011/05/nacra-championships-2011-f20c-power.html

    Leeward dagger fully down.

I have not sail the N17, but I think current Olympic sailors are far from fully optimizing it.

We will have at least 3 boats here in Argentina so I be able to test them.

Those who want to make some hard statements with data should sign with full name, if not you are not credible enough to spread your word or point of view here in CSN.
