Team New Zealand ‘Te Rehutai’ Complete Platform Draft CAD V1

Cannot sail due an Enduro crash… thus plenty of time to draw (15mins intervals as the left collarbone seems to be bonding rather well and need to get back to the water asap) .
I had Te Aihe complete almost done, but grabbed foil arms mostly as foils above are current version (v1 draft for my files, finished today, started Monday on a few pics I found, same as hull, might be 10-20 pics at most).

Overall looks pretty similar to actual Te Rehutai. Lots of details pending on foils etc, but good enough for a gral view.

Will continue to refine towards a 3D print.

Later will do a comp on massive Ineos foil vs these ones.

    Hi Kevin

Thanks, yes I was thinking to sell the files for personal use / 3D print , already did a test on the hull, looks really good.

I have Te Aihe, and this week will go for INEOS, of course with proper targeted foils. Stay tuned.

    Cheers,
    Martin

Hey mate I am also making a cad of the Te Rehutai just for fun. I can’t seem to find any technical drawings to model from. Did you find some or just wing it off other photos?
    Either way it looks amazing.

    Cheers, Danni.

  7. Hey Martin,
i’d love to print your files as well, not for commercial but educational uses. May send me message. Christoph

  8. Hi, I have been looking for a model of this to print (just for fun) I have a Febtop Optimus P1 printer so I can print the hole in one piece 1100mm long! Any chance of getting the model. Happy to talk about terms and conditions (I will not be selling the print or any files that come out of it). I am a Kiwi living in Germany and are very proud of the boys and girls of Team NZ!

Hi guys, thanks for the interest, I might sell the STL for personal use, contact through catsailingnews gmail com

Hi All, due to the interest, pm mails received and due to the AC75 will remain as the platform for next Cup, I will refine the foil arms / hull connector to be able to print separately as done with Te Aihe model, and will put the file for download for a good cost that will help to maintain the server / backups etc. Might do Prada also and INEOS later. Cheers , Martin.

Fantastic work Martin. – Truly inspiring.

I’m currently schlepping away in my trusty ol’ open-source/freeware subdivision modeller Wings3D on the AC75 fleet (Not CAD, just yet – your work is in a whole ‘nother league to mine, btw – but more on that later)…

Anyhoo, I randomly stumbled across your blog whilst doin’ the research do for my own little effort, during which I also recently ran across these two French naval architect guys’ blog, which I figure yourself and Danni might find useful…

    – AC75 Gen’ 1:

    – AC75 Gen’ 2:

…As you can see, sheer, body and half-breadth plans are at webpage resolutions, but I believe I read in one of their comment threads somewhere’s on their blog that they’re willing to discuss making the plans available if you drop ’em a line. – Hope this helps you guys…

Keep up the damn fine work, sir!

Hi Sgt O, thanks. But as always I used my eyes and available photos, as told to Danni, to make my own technical 3D stuff. Render 3D aboev is not just a “sketch”, it maintains proper shape and proportions, even proper working foil sections.

Chevalier has an extensive material of 2D AC boats , Danni and others can use as base no doubt, but I just always use the orig source, which is photos from the boat itself.

      Cheers.
