Eurocat 2013: Besson-Lagarrigue Champs

Billy Besson & Jeremy Lagarrigue won with 3 bullets in 6 races and more than 10 points ahead to take a tricky weather Eurocat. Winds from 5 to 25 knots, and one day cancelled due to much wind. Besson-Lagarrigue were third at LA (Jeremy also 2nd with Cammas in 2008 Worlds) and they are also part of the Hydros team that is going to challenge in the C-Class LAC along Mischa Heemskerk-Bastian Tentij that were 4th today at Carnac.

Hugh Styles continues to excel when his boats are not destroyed…! like the 2010 & 2012 Worlds, this time racing with Richard Mason

Francois Gabart-Mathieu Vandame were third, marking an excellent debut for the recent Vendee Globe winner. A transparent transition for him onboard an F18 in 5 to 25knots, and good omens  looking forward to objective Italy F18 Worlds, but of course having a World Champion crew like Vandame helped a lot too. Udin has made a high stake with Gabart and first cards on the table are looking good.

Besson is on fire excelling in the Olympic events too. Needless to say, a firm candidate for Grosseto and to grab French spot for Rio, but that one is going to be tougher than winning at Italy I guess on the level of the French Mixed Squad.

Mandy Mulder & Thijs Visser were leading and ended and quite good 5th, they are part of  Dutch Olympic team and they won at Palma.

Sadly no images this year from Franck Gicquiaid, a pity as an event without images these days is missing the opportunity of extra and first class promotion.  Pics or it never happen…

Why talk only of the F18? C1s and others were racing also. Just to mention Emmanuel Le Chapelier who won both the Long Distance and the triangles in C1s on his Viper. Note: He would have been 5th in real time in the long distance. That is quite an achievement. But no mention and no pictures.

Nicolas: You get me one single pic of C1 and you'll get a gift from csn……

Besson image is from LA, and the other two (2bd & 3rd) taken from SI fb page.

F18 is always the main class, I will post on the other classes when more info available. I asked a report to Emmannuel already.
