Cat racing in Australia this Weekend – 6th Feb 2010

By Leanne Gould
This weekend it is all on again at Speers Point.
They are running a Pulbah Island Marathon which starts at 12.00pm at Speers Point (Brief at 11AM) on the northern end of Lake Macquarie and races around Pulbah Island and back (about 35km). The forecast is looking good with 12-19 knots SSE/SE. So it should be a great race. We have heard rumours that the club now has seven F18s. Apparently the club members have been buying Tigers over the summer so now the have five Tigers and two Nacras. Will they all be on the water? Some of the Sydney sailors are making the trip north for the race. Kyle has coaxed Andrew Driver out of his premature retirement to crew for the day as Sam is on crutches with a busted knee. Stuart and I will be racing. Who else is coming out to play?

After the Pulbah Marathon the next event is the “Cock of the Bay” at Kurnell. THEY HAVE CHANGED THE DATE. It is now on Sunday 21st Feb.
Upcoming Events:
– Sat 6th Feb Pulbah Island Marathon (Speers Point)
– Sun 21st Feb Cock of the Bay (Kurnell)
– Sat 6th – Sun 7th March Darren Lowder Memorial Regatta (Trial Bay near South West Rocks)
– Sun 18th April Darren Lowder Memorial Trophy (Kurnell)
– Sat 24th – Sun 25th April Anzac Day Regatta (Bateman’s Bay)

News Flash – next years Nationals 2011 will be at Belmont (Lake Macquarie NSW) some time around Australia day
