Capricorn “1,5” Argentine Style

Nothing cofirmed yet about a new version of the Cap in Australia, but I can confirm 100% that a slightly modified authorized by AHPC version is being built here at Buenos Aires right now.
Good move for AHPC , the 1st foreign and top notch brand to stablish production in South America, a good developing market where the F18 was non existing until 2006.

This licenced Capricorn will feature an elevated rear beam and a encapsulated front beam Infusion style. The class here was founded with our Racecats in 2006, some Tigers arrived in dec 2008, now some Infusions are coming plus 5 Wildcats being imported at our neighbor Uruguay to race in our fleet.
But the AHPC Capricorn will have local support and costs will be way better than imported ones.

I have a new WP version cad ready from dec 08, the RC F18 II, but I will wait to sail the Caps and Infusions for some extra feedback, remember there were none, zero F18 before we built one from scratch in 2005-06.
The class is growing World Wide and specially in South America with Argentina and Chile taking the lead, Brazil huge market is the sleeping giant, hundreds of Hobie 16 and 14 sailors that were left without new boats or spare parts availability after Hobie Brazil decided to end production some years ago.

Bright future for the F18 Class and Multihull racing down here, hope ISAF guys don´t get mad at us for stealing the show of traditional slow and boring monohull regattas that have been “raced” here for ages…

    Hello my South American friend!

I'm brazilian and follow you blog closely.
Here we sail with HC16, but in my city some old Tornados(2 and one new), Tigers(2)and "A" Cats (3) compose the fleet.
I expected those F18s grow up, because the shape, the speed and the
action of sailing stay in new level!

Congrtatulations to yours achievements, and sorry for this scratch english!

Hi, where do you have those Tigers in Brazil?
I know you have a growing A-Class fleet too.

Yep, the Hobie 16 is a great fleet, I learned and started racing Hobie 16 while working in Mexico, but the F18 is a step higher in fun and performance. Send me a mail to catsailingnews gmail com and I´ll give more info about the alternatives and the boats we are building and importing in Arg.
