2024 Worrell 1000 Race: The Gamblers

Today the Worrell 1000 saw two teams going for their own high stakes bet sailing inside the Bouge Sound inlet, “..a dangerous one with large shallows and wandering sand bars and shoals …” as per the regatta org fb page. Pete & Bailey Skewes (Australia II) along Randy Smyth & Dalton Tebo (Rudee’s) left the fleet to follow the standard outside path while they ventured in a crazy bid that ultimately payed big time.

In the end Randy & Dalton won on their Nacra Evo about 5 mins ahead the Aussies on sailing an Edge/Nxt Gen F18.
What great to follow, hat off to the org staff and of course the sailor and their crews.

Later more details with the official report when available. Photo: Worrell Team Australia fb.
