BeFoil Convertible F16 wins C1 French Championships

The Befoil Carbon is a convertible Formula 16 platform. We saw it with T Foils at Martinique Cata Raid and racing full F16 mode (equipped with 1D Sails) at the French C1 Championships winning over the reigning Goodall Viper F16. We’ll ask them for more details on this convertible racing cat.

Le Chapelier & Le Bouëdec crowned French C1 Champions with
the Befoil F16 CARBON

The 2023 C1 interseries multihull French Championship took place last weekend at
Maubuisson (south of France). 14 boats were present to compete and after 3 beautiful days
of navigation, Emmanuel Le Chapelier and Eric Le Bouedec were deservedly crowned
champions with their brand new Befoil F16 CARBON.

Throughout the championship, the race committee ran the heats quickly in a wind that varied
in strength and direction, making the heats exciting and challenging, with many changes in
position among the leading boats as the wind shifted.

The 2 leading crews, Emmanuel Le Chapelier / Eric Le Bouëdec and Michel Kermarec /
Fanny Merelle, were detached from the other boats, with a mast provided by Befoil for
Michel and Fanny. Emmanuel and Eric’s Befoil F16 CARBON is for its part still in its
running-in period but is already showing its full potential.

Eric and Emmanuel won 4 out of 9 heats, each with a comfortable lead, even though the
Befoil F16 CARBON, as well as the modified Viper 16 with a Befoil mast (Michel and Fanny’s
boat), were registered with the most unfavorable rating. Unlike the other boats, they didn’t
benefit from a favorable rating from the manufacturer.

All the racers enjoyed themselves on the beautiful water of Maubuisson, which offers a flat
playing field even when the wind rose to 15 knots.

RESULTS:
1: LE CHAPELIER Emmanuel & LE BOUËDEC Eric, Befoil F16 CARBON, 13 points (1, 1, 1,3, 2, 2, 2, 1, 3)
2: KERMAREC Michel & MERELLE Fanny, modified Viper 16, 13 points (2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1,2, 6)
3: THAREAU Philippe & GUEHO Vincent, Goodall Viper, 23 points (3, 3, 6, 1, 3, 3, 5, 3, 2)
