A-Cat Italian Nats 2022 Results

Data from the this 2022 Italian A-Class Nats is the winners and many in the top ten of both fleets sailing with Challenger Sails, an Italian loft specialized in Windsurfing sails too. Paolo Penco using a new “Alien” mast by Michelle Petrucci, and Manuel Vaccari from Oxo sails (ITA 5 pic above) with his usual special top batten configuration.

Good to see the Italian A-Class fleet racing together, we were a bit confused on the two associations that were in place due to the floating divisions.

The 2022 Italian national championship was held in the fantastic setting of Bracciano’s Lake, near Rome.

“The three days of racing were marked by moderate to light wind conditions, which allowed for 8 of the 9 scheduled races.

Participation was overall positive, with 26 classic boats and 18 foils,
with 8 German riders and a good participation of local racers, especially classic ones.

In the classic division Alessandro Rosi won ahead of Marco Gaeti and Manuel Vaccari.
The classification was uncertain until the last race,  but it showed the excellent level of all participants.

1°Rosi Alessandro     (Exploder 2022 – Fiberfoam – Challenger sails )
2°Gaeti Marco            (Scheurer G7  – Fiberfoam – Challenger Sails  )
3°Vaccari Manuel       (Scheurer G5  – Askell Mast – Oxo Sails )
4°Mainero Francesco (Exploder 2019 – Fiberfoam – Challenger sails )
5° Lais Giorgio              (Scheurer G5 – Fiberfoam – Challenger Sails )

In the open division there has been a good fight between the younger Lamberto Cesari which was dominating the first day in upwind foiling conditions and the defending champion
Giuseppe Colombo, not making any mistake.
Other contenders took bullets like the upcoming Paolo Mangialardo and Gianni Fantasia (F18 Italian president) or the veterans Paolo Penco and Matthias Dietz,
but in the end Colombo defended his title with an impressive series discarding a 3rd and six points margin over the former dark horse Lamberto.

The regatta was an excellent possibility to test the Tracking Metasil system,
where we had an excellent response from all competitors” .
