New Radical F18 Design by Cirrus unveiled

Only way to achieve different results is to change the current norm or Status Quo.

When Nacra and Goodall have basically followed the Scorpion key features to prevent a 4th consecutive title, Manu Boulogne and Matthieu Marfaing have gone farther to the very extreme.
If Martin Fischer’s milestone design for Hobie was named the “Wildcat” on its looks and advanced developments (which set the current norm for the F18 2.0 and is also the Scorpion main heritage) this new ‘901’ F18 design by Cirrus can be labeled as an unique “Radical” approach.

This is real “development hours and R&D”… fine tuning and following the current trend is nowhere near what Manu and Matt have designed & built here with the “901”.

We wish them the best of success, high bet for Cirrus, hats off for targeting ( as Matt told me today) a no compromise Design. Hopefully Italy F18 Worlds will be held, and we’ll see if their ideas can beat the competition, if so many of us we’ll be more than happy for them.

Lots of aspect to review already on this new platform, but we will leave them for a coming Interview with Manu & Matt after they release the final complete video and pics.

Hi Martín,

“We would like to hand you some comments on the second teaser of the ‘901’.
1 year ago, I called Manu and ask him if he would like to start a new design from scratch, from a BLANK page. We thought it would be an obstacle to the design to start from the F18 design experience we had for the last 20 years.

When doing this, you just move a little bit the line and the result and performance are very close of other boats we already see on the water from us and our competitors. Here this is the result of no compromise in the design to get amazing performance.

With the America’s cup, it was also a great opportunity to get many inspirations and we used it as a gift!
