Weekend Flights @Buenos Aires, Jan 2020

Great sailing weekend here in Buenos Aires. Friday went to Windfoil , plus put time on the A-Cat again as I needed to install original foils again in the A14. I’ve been using 3D printed inserts for a while with good results. But more testing needed. Either way, a great asset having the chance to make your own spare parts or custom ones.

Saturday sailed out with the A14 with a Landy DS, previously I revisited the rigging, changed trapeze lines , shockords etc. But the A punished me for letting her much time no sail and sent me down while trapezing upwind! One of the new dyneemas of the trapeze system got loose resulting on a freefall to scuba dive … not much to see in our muddy bottom waters (mud not dirt.. for nth time) , but I was quick enough to keep the mainsheet while the A was leaving me there, managed to stop it and saved a capsize too. No more hook & tiller bar though forcing a trip back to the Cub… but was happy to sail the A-Cat once more.

Ian & Chris kept flying theirs till wind died down at sunset (pic above)

Today we had super nice Southeast breeze +25knots , good for a 4,7 + shortboard ws but let the day pass as my bones were getting together from previous days, rest to fight another day was the mode.

My mate Ian Rodger thought it was time to sail the FP again, with local star crew Cuco Benitez they went out in those 25knots SE to achieve an excellent 28.4Knots speed mark with the Flying Phantom equipped with a 1D custom DS.
