Flying Phantom Series @Cannes 2016: Boc-Ho & Roger Champs

FLYING PHANTOM SERIES CANNES 2016: VICTORY FOR BOC-HO AND ROGER
This weekend was held in Cannes – France the first event of the 2016 Flying Phantom Series season. After 3 days of racing and 9 races the young duo Arthur Boc-Ho and Cantin Roger (Team Foiling) took the first place on the podium ahead of Tim Mourniac – Tom Laperche (Team ENVSN) and Thomas Normand – Antoine Joubert (Team Momentys).

The Flying Phantom Series Cannes is the first event of the 2016 season for the international Flying Phantom fleet. The competition was organized by the Yacht Club de Cannes and supported by Cannes City with races taking place in the fantastic bay of Cannes in front of the famous “Croisette”.

13 teams engaged in the Series including teams that already took part of the 2015 season like Thomas Normand – Antoine Joubert, Sébastien Rogues, Gurvan Bontemps , Toby Orpin – Lewis Crawford, Raphael & Elias Neuhann, Thibaut Vauchel and Laurent Barthelemy, but also new comers such as Arthur Boc-Ho – Cantin Roger (winners of the Red Bull Foiling Generation France 2015), Tim Mourniac – Tom Laperche and Jolann Neiras – Antoine Rucard (member of Groupama Team France – ENVSN Team), John Tomko – Jonathan Atwood (USA) and David Krizek – Milan Harmacek (Czech Republic).

18 races were launched by the race committee: 4 on Friday 8th, 2 on Saturday 9th and 3 on Sunday 10th in medium winds ranging from 6 to 12 knots. The fleet was divided in four groups, with each group racing against each other in a rotating table format. Then teams had the opportunity to race at least 3 times the other boats.

In this intense racing game the duo Arthur Boc-Ho (17yo) and Cantin Roger (19yo) were the best with 6 wins on 9 races. For Arthur and Cantin it is the second time they achieve a very good result with the Flying Phantom as they won the French Red Bull Foiling Generation last year in La Baule.

The final podium was completed with 2nd: Tim Mourniac – Tom Laperche (Groupama Team France – ENVSN) and 3rd Thomas Normand – Antoine Joubert (Team Momentys).

The next events of the Flying Phantom Series 2016 will take place in Switzerland and Italy:
Flying Phantom Series Geneva 2016 : 4th-7th June 2016 at the Yacht Club De Genève
Flying Phantom Series Lake Garda 2016 : 6th-10th July 2016 during the Foiling Week
