Texel Dutch Open: Day 1 Results & Images by Emmanuel Rey

All images by Emmanuel Rey.  The Round Texel, the biggest Catamaran race in the World with +500 boats, always starts with a course race event, the Texel Dutch Open. This year the Nacra 17 are racing 1 on 1 in handicap with the F18s, but I don´t think that  Texel rating for the N17 is accurate as 30kg less & curved boards are a performance gain that pass a possible equalizer on the minimal lenght difference.
And the reports I have on the N17 are that is a quite lively & quicker than the F18, which should be as both have a 9mts mast and almost the same rig power.

Nevertheless quite interesting seeing some of the top F18 crews like Heemskerk-Tentij against one of the best N17 sailors so far , Renee Groenveld & Karel Begemman (although they didn´t race together last events). Also Delnooz-de Koning on N17 and 2012 Vice World Champ Oskar Zeekant sailing with Sanne van Heystek on F18, in 3rd and 4th place respectively.
