F18 Worlds 2009: Tough day…

Marcelien de Koning geting comfortable with the Tiger at the Texel 09.
Today wasn´t an “easy” smooth racing day: only two races, ending too late, delays due lack of winds, BFDs, general recalls, a mast down for Mitch, daggers broken and some protests for sure, neverhteless the Royal Belgian Sailing Club managed to complete the 1st day of races with a great organization, and lots of info provided in their site, including live results and gps.
All these problems are normal with 180 crews, so is bussiness as usual there for these type of huge events.

But a sailor that couldn´t have “bussines as usual” and a debut in the F18 Worlds was Marcelien de Koning, who suffered a stomach infection after the Texel Round, she spent 8 days at hospital so she couldn´t pair Sander de Boer for this Worlds, racing F18 for the 1st time, Marcelien is an Olympic medalist and 470 World Champ.
So from here we wish her well, and we hope she can be racing the next F18 Worlds at France for the the 10th anniversary of the class.
