Jason Waterhouse & Lisa Darmanin are responding to the mandate the Australian Sailing Federation gave them, leading the way after 5 races at Miami ISAF WC 2016.  While the US selection is being taken place here and in next Worlds, the Aus team was selected without an actual racing trial. Jason & Lisa did have the best results in the last year, so the decision taken by their Sailing Fed will weighted after Rio.

Olympic selections are always controversial, just look again at the US one, Sarah and Matthew are not having a good event after being the best US crew in last Worlds amd European season. Now they are facing tough competition from other 2 local crews to decide who will attend to the Olympics in July. Not over yet , Nacra 17 Worlds to be held at Clearwater on Feb 6-14th will be part of this selection process.
