A-Cat Europeans 2025: Final Day Results

A-Class Europeans 2025 Final Results

Another day of light winds at Riccione – Two discards applied now in the Open Foilers & Classic fleets.

Tricky final day, specially for the Foilers as marginal flight conditions put alternatives to the top riders on staying in floating mode or going for the take off and gamble hard on the actual outcome.

Sometimes did not payed, for Mischa for instance in R10, but in that same final race, Cesari coming from behind went for the reaching takeoff on the final downwind leg and was able to pass Calavia who was in floating mode along Suroviec and others.
That move secured the second overall for the Italian sailor. Fourth overall for Emmanuel Dodé who had a great regatta.

Kuba Suroviec got 8 bullets out of 10 races, from mid range to light 4 knots racing the Polish World Champ continues to show his level. Lets see if Ashby decides to comeback to match performance.

Foling Gybes
Following gps tracking you can see vmgs at play, although key aspect in these marginal foiling conditions are the gybes. The first A-Cat sailor who will clinch those will be racing alone until others catch up.

Still the Z foil system of the A-Cats might prevent full foiling gybes in light winds, but development always finds a way. Moths can do full foiling gybes and tacks, but they are buoys in light winds, where the A-Class can race even in 3 knots of winds as seen this week at Riccione.

Versatility is always a primordial aspect of Catamaran racing, see today Texel Round, cats were out racing while Wingfoil fleet stayed ashore.

So we need to maintain the entire wind range capabilities of the Foiling A-Cats, and at the same time target the airborne gybe “holy grail”

Classics

Classics saw Doreste, Anderson and Battista on a close run for the title. The Aussie won by two points overall after nine races in the end with a bullet on the last race followed his title contenders.

Good to see Michele Petrucci’s Alien Mast performing at the top. Podium in the Classics.
Along another local builder, Challenger Sails, Italian loft who is getting lots platforms equipped, those sails look pretty good as we post after some Garda event, and perform as well.
