Mar del Plata International Sailing Weeke 2026
Some good breeze & waves this past weekend at Mar del Plata.
The crews that managed to attend had a fest.
Agustin Krevisky & Juan Cruz Benitez (Scorpion-1D) dominated the regatta with all bullets.
Juan Cruz is Juan Martin’s brother (usual Agustin’s crew), both top notch sailors.
Second place overall for Vilate-Dorbessan (Scorpion-1D) and third for Hernán Salerno- Luca Salerno riding the local made Scorpion hulls (last photo above) which keep standing the beatings in excellent shape.
We made the mold with Cirrus beams shape, to migrate legacy Phantom platforms. Fischer’s Phantom hulls are still competitive and possibly even faster upwind, but the Scorpion hulls are more overall with additional margin in the breeze. I’m riding one now, super fast F18.
The yard where we are building these hulls is located in Mar del Plata. Local Hernán Salerno, a friend and renown Naval Architect is managing the process. The yard had moved operations latest months so we still have a delay for next set that I will be racing with my son as soon as they are ready.
My kid raced Optimist in Mar del Plata and he is eager to return to that great venue sailing an F18. Meanwhile he gets amped with these great shots by Master Photographer Matias Capizzano. Check Matias web at capizzano.photoshelter.com
Raptor 5.5
Hernán Salerno is also the designer of the Raptor 5.5, a nice fast mono that is growing fleet numbers on its excellent costs say vs a J70, also build in Mar del Plata. Contact us for more info.
