F18 Worlds 2025 @Noordwijk Day 1: Favorites & Live GPS Track links

F18 Worlds 2025, Noordwijk, Netherlands

One of the most competitive F18 Worlds in years will be (hopefully due to weather forecast) starting this Monday.

Check this favorites list:

  • Darren Bundock – Bjarne Bouwer (Exploder F18 2025 / 1D) Multiple Titles for Bundy
  • Gavin Colby – Kai Colman (Nacra Evo) (Vice Champs 2022 / 2023)
  • Pablo Volker – Federico Polimeni (Goodall Akurra) World Champs 2024
  • Brett Burvill – Max Puttman (Windrush Edge-Nxt Gen Sails) Vice Champs 2024
  • Ravi Parent – Lena Weisskichel (Nacra Evo) World Champ 2022

These above among other top contenders like Rivas-Sanchez, Demesmaeker-Tas, Gonzalez Smith-Heuser (3 Podiums since 2019) , Legends Sach Brothers and others will deliver some tight competition with more than 4 different platforms.

One crew who needs to show their level is Krevisky-Benitez. Their total domination on the Arg local regattas for more than two years now, even over Volker, needs to be validated at a Worlds.
Agustin Krevisky is Opti World & Vice Champ, and climbed to F18 Worlds podium in 2024 along Nico Aragonés. We expect this time Agus & ‘Tigre’ to show their real top level at this Worlds regatta.

Weather forecast looks tricky on high winds for Monday / Tuesday, specially on the chance of coastal breakers that might keep boats ashore.

On designs, Manu Boulogne will race with Cirrus R, which has already show excellent speed in previous races, and Bundock will be sailing the new Exploder F18, which is Not a new Scorpion version, I haven’t been involved in the process.
This new F18 design indeed has the Scorpion orig CAD and CFD tests done against it as benchmark, and was designed by Gonzalo Redondo.

Basically this new Exploder F18 is a return to Fischer’s Phantom F18 concept: A wider transom, more flat bottom on the bow, wider hull than the Scorpion.
This design was already first tested on a regatta at 2024 St Barts with Ruben Booth on board and showed good potential. Bundy will definitely make this platform perform, Ruben also racing one at Noordwijk,

On the technical aspects, protests, dyform cables, jib measurement and winglets we’ll touch those subjects after the regatta.

Right now is time for racing action, and its impossible almost to define a winner beforehand, although our intuition calls for two of the crews above to be fighting for the crown.
