Nacra 50 Year Anniversary Regatta

—
Nacra had their 50 year anniversary Championships at Lake Como past week. Thanks to the work of Gunnar Larsen & Peter Vink the Nacra name has replaced “Hobie” to the mainstream public as the synonym of Catamarans, a truly remarkable achievement. Still in terms of community and brand OD Classes the Hobie 16 remains King.
Focusing on F18 racing with the launch of the Nacra Infusion, the F20 Foil development and specially on the Nacra 17 prototype that won the Olympic Trials, the Nacra 15 selected as Youth Olympics boat along their recreational lineup Nacra has become the most important and bigger beachcat catamaran company which is recognized by people outside sailing.
Congrats to Gunnar (who left Nacra a couple of years ago), Peter and the stakeholders/brand owners for Nacra first 50 years of Catamaran Sailing.

Update: Celebrating 50 Years of Nacra Sailing on Lake Como
We’re halfway through an unforgettable week here at Aval Sailing in Gravedona on the stunning Lake Como, where we’re celebrating 50 years of Nacra Sailing with the Nacra 50 Year Anniversary Championships.
The event kicked off on August 3rd with a practice race and an festive opening ceremony, where we welcomed 48 Nacra teams from 12 different countries. The fleet includes 28 Nacra 15s, 12 Nacra F18s and 8 Nacra F20s.
Since Monday, the game was on and what a week it’s been so far! Three races have been completed each day and the weather conditions have steadily improved: starting with clouds and light winds and shifting to sunnier skies and stronger breezes as the week progressed.
Besides racing, the days have been wrapped up with pasta snacks, a sailors’ dinner, live music entertainment and a Nacra Happy Hour.
