F18 Italian Nats 2017 @Follonica: Vettori & Stella Champs

Report sent by Alessandro Pelliccia / www.formula18.it – The Italian F18 Association through Alessandro is doing the best job right now for the locals associations on promoting their regattas, plenty of pics, results and reports always available at www.formula18.it.  In Arg for ie, longtime web is now deprecated by new authorities, I have an archive at least of ten great years.

At the Italian Nats 2017 winner were  Vettori & Stella on a Goodall C2 with sails from Felix Egner / Landenberger Sailing. Those sails from Felix on that mast always been a perfect match alternative , since the Capricorn days.
On pics check photo #6 , that Wildcat mast is happy to be alive…!

Italian Nats 2017 – 
From June  22 to 25th, the Formula 18 Catamarani Italia held its national championship in Follonica, at the Lega Navale Italiana Sez. of Follonica.
Four days of intense racing. Twelve regattas completed,  all those scheduled. Conditions we had South low winds for the first tree days to sinish with a great 12 and 15 knots for the last one.

From the start two crews contended the title with repeated alternation for first and second places following the fleet with continuous exchanges in the positions.
National Formula 18 Champions for the year 2017 with 6 bullets 4 seconds and discarding a 2nd and a 6th are Christian Vettori & Maurizio Stella.
Second place only one point behind foro  Mazzucchi-Lisignoli, 2016 National champs.
Third  overall for De Grenet-Marzorati, and in Formula 18 tradition that rewards the top 5, fourth place for Radman-Cioni and  Ferrari-Canepa.

Compliments of the Class go to the Organizing Club, always present on land and on the water to assist the sailors. On the water with so many inflatable boats and staff, on land with daily pasta parties and a great social dinner from the great “Tuscan” offer. The Regatta Committee is always ready to reposition the field when following the wind rotations and setting the conditions for racing times from time to time. For athletes who have reached the Tuscan resort , it was  a great week
