A-Cat Easter Regatta 2026 – Robin Maeder Dominates at Campione del Garda

Campione del Garda, April 12, 2026

The eighth edition of the A-Cat Easter Regatta, organized by Univela under the FIV flag, is done and dusted — and the result was clear-cut: Robin Maeder (SUI 007 / CNB) won the event at Garda race course with 4 race wins out of 8 sailed.

26 sailors from 9 nations, three days of racing, completely different wind conditions each day.

Friday April 10 opened with sunshine and light breeze, 5-8 knots. Three races completed: Maeder takes Race 1, Toni Ballester Race 2, Paul Sevestre Race 3.

Saturday April 11 saw medium-strong breeze with all A-Cats fully foiling, speeds up to 25 knots downwind. Breathtaking stuff. This is exactly the kind of sailing that makes the A-Class unique: proper foiling performance, on Lake Garda, in springtime.

Sunday April 12 the wind dropped back to light, but the Race Committee did a solid job getting the full programme done and locking in the final standings.

Final podium:

  1. Robin Maeder – Switzerland (CNB / SUI 007) – 10 net points
  2. Michal Korneszczuk – Poland (Yacht Club Gdansk / POL 111) – 14 points
  3. Toni Ballester – Spain (Real Club Nautico de Valencia / ESP 75) – 17 points

Race wins spread across: Maeder 4, Ballester 1, Sevestre 1, Korneszczuk 1, Vladislav Ptasnik 1.

Top Italian was Paolo Penco (ITA 3 – Associazione Nautica Sebina, Lake Iseo), 9th overall with 41 net points. Penco, reigning Italian class champion, showed once again he belongs at the international level. Well done Paolo.

Bottom line: Maeder put everyone in their place, Univela delivered a quality event on Italy’s finest springtime sailing water, and the A-Class keeps delivering the goods. See you at the next one.
