PredictWind A-Cat Worlds 2025 Day 3
Another complicated day at Auckland due to unstable weather. Open fleet completed one more race and the Classics managed to put 3 more on the score table. Long waits on the water for both fleets but was worthy for the floaters as now they have 5 total valid races.
Jacek Noetzel (D3/Bryt) leads with five perfect bullets. The Polish rider has established a good gap ahead of Jamie Jocheim (D3/Landeberger), Andrew Landenberber (Scheurer G8 / Landenberger) and Mike Drummond (D3 / Hammer).
Ravi Parent (D3/ Marchal) won the Foilers race followed by Darren Bundock (D3/ Brewin) and Surowiec (D3/ Bryt). Same order for overall standings after 3 races.

The interesting point of the skimming / low flight / “jumping’ / flight transitions or whatever you want to call a Classic platform going airborne is that it wont get you a top spot. You still need to complete the course vs one of the most competitive fleets in Catamaran racing.
In light winds the skimming mode does not pay, the big gap by flying is only achieved in the Open fleets where in marginal conditions the top sailors lift off in 6-7konts of wind and the rest goes reaching or simply sit down and point in floating mode.
This situation above can be seen in Race 3 Open fleet Check Tracking replay here
Last pic above, that Hobie 16 platform like with elevated tramp was a Mike Drummond’s built if we memory doesn’t fails.
