Photo: Alex Udin – 2010 World Champion, Arnaud Jarlegan this time with Xavier Revil (replacing WC helm Olivier Backes) took one of the most important F18 National titles, the French Assoc www.f18.fr has one of the biggest and most talented fleets.
The SI Phantom had an excellent debut at the 2011 Eurocat, leading the championship on day 1, but on the 2nd day they suffered a structural failure due to some innovative construction method and not much time for testing, that left them wondering and out of the race.
Now after almost one month the team has managed to resolve that issue to complete their excellent sailing performance debut.
The Phantom Project, designed by Fischer and SI team aims to get the spot for the Olympic cat on next trials, but equipped with lifting foils. A few F18s will be built, maybe we’ll have the chance to test it here in Arg in a future.
Congrats to the whole team, and specially to Arnaud Jarlegan as he is responding to good a amount of pressure, being right now the racing face supporting the prestige that the SI team achieved last year at Erquy.
High level for the Nats with some dutch crews present too like Nieuwemhuis/Van West (3rd) and Visser with Marfaing (4th). The french youth teams placed again two top tens with the Bellet bros (9th) and Hainneville/Fanoulliere (10th) , Lecoublet/Floicher 23rd.
Good mix of brands again with Phantom, Shockwave, Infusion, Cirrus R, Widcat and C2 on the top ten.
