Ravi Parent, Catsailor of the Year 2022

Ravi Parent winning the A-Cat Open Worlds Title plus the F18 Europeans & F18 World Championships (with Severin Gramm) in the same season is are about the max you can do to be crowned 2022 Catsailor of the Year. Two quite different realms Foiling an A-Cat Up/Down Wind to blasting the F18 fleet two up.

At Houston A-Cat Worlds he prevailed over established top sailors like former Champ Steve Brewin, fellow Top Gun Riley Gibbs, and past Title podium sailors and contenders like Bundock and Kuba Suroviec in harsh strong wind / choppy conditions.

Clearwater F18 Worlds also saw complicated racing days with plenty of shifty conditions and mixed range of winds. Ravi did not won both events in brute bullet force, but on consistency, which is a hard task to complete in such diverse Multihull Classes/Fleets. Once you have the technique nailed, specially in the now almost 100% Foiling A-Cat, your head and winning drive works in the same way no matter which boat you are racing.

Ravi became this year the dominant sailor many have foreseen since he was a kid. His Sr career is just starting, many years left to follow the path of other Catamaran Racing legends like Booth, Bundy, Brewin, Mischa or Ashby.

He is also sailing and targeting Nacra 17 Olympic arena. It will be a challenge with Tita & Banti dominating. But If someone can break that Class status quo might be Ravi Parent, lets see what future will bring, his present is already quite bright. Could be the first to win the Catamaran Racing Triple Crown (A-Cat, F18 & Olympic Gold)

Plenty on his background and achievements in the A-Cat Worlds & F18 Worlds Title posts.

We established the Catsailor of the Year about ten years ago, time to recognize again the top sailors from our Multihull racing Classes along the ‘Boat of the Year’ award from a decade ago.
