Nacra 17s @Weymouth 2015: Aussie Charge towards Rio

All Images Sailing Energy / Jesús Renedo for the Australian Sailing Team
Two Australian generations  performing at UK,  Young Guns Jason Waterhouse & Lisa Darmanin won the Weymouth  ISAF WCup,  Olympic medalists Darren Bundock & Nina Curtis finished in 3rd place. Between them the Swiss team Buhler-Brugger.
Italians Bissaro-Sicouri won the Medal Race, re gaining presence in the top spots.

Bundock-Curtis were second in the MR putting high pressure over Jason & Lisa , who had a bad start in the final race held in 5knots, but manage to recover for a 3rd overall behind their teammates.

The only drawback on the great display from the Aussies, is that one team will be out, nevertheless their internal competition is clearly elevating both teams level, benefiting the Australian flag in the end, which is the most important thing in an Olympic competition.

Thus having several teams from one country aiming for Rio as we are seeing specially with GBR, FRA, ITA, DEN and others is best possible scenario looking forward to 2016.
British team also placed to boats in the top ten, and another good performance to note is ARU  finishing in 10th place. Beeson & Riou were not present at Weymouth.
Read again how Jason & Lisa started sailing together Hobie 16 in this interview with Waterhouse published past October.

The Australian qualy as we’ve been pointing out  for a while, will be one to watch, it will become a ‘Match’ to remember.
