Hobie 16 Polish Nats 2017 @Nordcup

Photos by Sail Spotting & report below sent by Michał Korneszczuk / Regaty Nord Cup 2017.  Great pics from the Hobie 16 Polish Nats 2017, H16s have around 40yrs, still a super competitive fleet and one of the toughest cats to sail & race in the breeze, the benefits is after learning how to sail them anything else will be a kids game.
Hobie Multi Worlds & Europeans 2017 will be held at Noordwijk - The Netherlands. More than 240 entries by now: hobieworlds.com
"Polish Hobie 16 Nationals 2017 were held in Gdansk on past weekend.  We had a good mix of conditions. First day was low-moderate, but very puffy. Then we had a day of 12-18knots, to conclude with 16-21knots on Monday.

It was nice to see comeback of  the brothers who weren't straight favorites  before the regatta . However what it was also clear to see that UKS Navigo (host club of A-Cat Worlds) is getting stronger and stronger and that there is depth within club to have jung sailors to step up after likes of Tymo Bendyk or Kuba Surowiec."

Ashby & his Cup

America's Cup Final 2017 @Bermuda: Emirates Team New Zealand Champs

All images ACEA Live Images  / Gilles Martin-Raget / Sander van der Borch & Ricardo Pinto - That's IT: 7 - 1 For Emirates Team New Zealand , they were simply Superior in every aspect from design to implementation. Their sailors ? If we have doubts on Burling on the start, he wipe out those concerns to leave no doubts he is the Nr 1 sailor nowadays.

Along Ashby,  Tuke and the commando cyclors onboard TNZ AC50 Weapon & its special and unique Foils.
For Oracle nothing to do sadly, their AC50 was not at TNZ level of performance.
In terms of competition and entertainment for the audience and fans so glad we had Artemis Racing putting a challenge to New Zealand, some of their races will stay in history of the Cup as some of the best ever. Also  the other teams in the Qualys, great racing.

Light winds again today. Oracle managed to win the start to the reaching mark. But already in the first gybe TNZ had more angle to pass the first gate ahead.

From then on TNZ in their usual untouchable mode to grab a deserved win. Congrats to the Kiwis they delivered a perfect Master Class.

America's Cup 2017 Finals: Day 4, New Zealand 6 vs Oracle 1

Americas's Cup 2017: Slingby on Oracle changes: "..unstable but Faster.."

Video by Oracle Team USA -  Check comments by Slingby matching what we saw yesterday: They have better speed but the boat is more "unstable and hard to sail".

The problem being every time they hit 'grond' on a failed gybe or tack they lose any knot gained in straight line. In the wind conditions raced till now in the Final, Emirates Team New Zealand continues to be a superior solution overall.

Burling covering head to head yesterday in the second race would have resulted in a win for TNZ. Kiwis foils are giving them the needed speed combined with almost 100% airtime in their gybes & tacks, which in a flying boat will make all the difference vs a boat with newly found speed but unable to sustain TNZ AC50 rhythm on maneuvers.

Try to watch yesterday's races, and count how many times the hard / unstable comments from Slingby were a reality on them failing to foil gybe/tack.

With more wind Oracle might have a chance, but we knew that one from the start of this Final.
In lights to mid range, I no chance but Burling leaving them without implementing a classic tight coverage as we saw in Saturday's second race.
