A-Cat North Americans 2017 @San Diego: Day 1

Check Mischa new pinhead sail foiling upwind  vs the Glaser one used by Matt Struble.  Lets see if they can race with calm to asses both rigs, as these pics look perfect foiling conditions.

Ben Hall on Day 1 : “Wow…great venue , great conditions. Mischa and Bruce Mahoney put on a clinic for all the other racers. Fast upwind and ripping fast downwind….rarely off the foils. The new pin head sails Mischa brought seem to be very good.  It is Mischa’s answer to the short rig…keep the standard mast length and keep the tall aspect ratio. Following Mischa upwind before the start it seemed that the top opened up nicely even with the tiny head (one iPad width).


Matt Struble (2015/2016 NA Champ) was struggling a bit upwind but on fire downwind with the newest Exploder.

Mischa had 1, 1, 2. Bruce 2,2,1 and Matt 3,3,3. Brandon Wallace sailed well in 4th and Larry Woods was consistent with 5,5,5.
Then came Robbie Daniels and Matt Keenan ( maybe not in that order)

In the Classics Craig Yandow had 1,1 and a do not ask. Damian La Casella won the third race with Woody Cope a close second. Very close racing in the Classic fleet.
Consensus from the sailors is that the sailing here in Dago is awesome.

Mischa commented the conditions were perfect ( medium air, flat water) and that he was happy to sail against many of his friends again.
Now we have to run the annual meeting….where is Bailey??”
