America’s Cup 2017 @Bermuda: Louis Vuitton Day 7 Results

Video Day 7 sent by Emirates Team New Zealand. All images by ACEA / Ricardo Pinto Live shots. –  Excellent weather conditions at Bermuda today after the light winds of Thursday. More pics and info later. –

Friday Juen 2nd  First Race:  New Zealand is simply a flawless Flying Tractor. Not much to analyze on their win over Team Japan. TNZ showing off such a polished racing machinery, equipment and human factor in every aspect , from Design to Sailors.

Relentless is the word to define their perf today. Still they are only beginning to know the potential of their devels & Innvations: Peter Burling comments sent by TNZ press“We try and improve and today we feel like we have improved a little bit. That’s what we are here to do,” said Burling. “You just look at the performance numbers we do every day we get quicker and quicker. The tacks get better, the gybes get better and the modes you can sail get better.”

Race 2: Excellent start for Nathan goign after Spithill, finally!  a scoring win performance. Leading over Oracle at all times, with an speed edge in the upwind legs.
Oracle was no slow at all, and last leg to windward they were faster than Artemis, so Spitihil and USA have lots of margin and I doubt they have put all their potential over the table yet.

Race 3. Idem R1 with a 4mins gap. Nothing to do for Cammas and Team France. TNZ did not even touched water with their hulls for a 100% foiling last lap.
30 solid knots for TNZ upwind…

Race 4:  Nathan aggressive again in the start, this time vs Barker. Perfect start like race 2.  Great to see Outteridge with such confidence. Leg 3 SWE leading by 50mts with Barker & Draper keeping the pace but Artemis in control.  40.7knots downwind for AR , 32knots upwind for JPN and a great tack duel. Nice match to watch.
12-14knots of wind speed  and 29-30knots for both AC50s in the final upwind leg. Aretmis maintained a small 7 secs gap ,  which later  extended to  20secs towards the Finish. Second win of the day for Artemis , closing a great session to boost performance for the LV Semis.

LV Candidates
Emirates Team New Zealand & Artemis Racing (finally) confirming they are the candidates for the Louis Vuitton Cup Final. Nothing defined yet with the Semi finals are coming. If weather allows BAR will have their chances and Team Japan showed they have speed and today they improved their maneuver challenging Artemis with a tacking duel where Barker and his team were super smooth on the transitions.

France is out of the Cup, with 2 wins and that close loss to BAR by nothing yesterday and considering their budget , resources and time on the water they did a decent job. Little more of those … Mission Accomplished for Groupama Team France, good exposure, all local sailors and hopefully they can build up for next Cup Edition

More racing scheduled for  tomorrow 2:00pm Bermuda time.
