Kuba Surowiec won the 2017 Europeans Spring 2017 at Circolo Vela Arco. The kid is on the rise, we’ve been telling so for a while now. The Polish A-Cat Armada keeps growing in talent with new generations. One of the trade-offs of the flying transition we are experiencing in the A-Class is being able to attract youths, something I think in the past years was not the case.

Yesterday I was listening the local commentary of the America’s Cup done by two great and respected Arg monohull sailors , both recognizing how great are cats etc and else, all good and excellent commentary indeed, but when one started  talking on “Moths & Waszps” for the weekend sailor and  I went like “Say what”?  All good with those great boats, but if any kid wants to emulate the monsters and top notch sailors participating in the Americas Cup, you have to look no further than the A-Class or racing double handed like N17/  FP/ F20 and else.
Hey, once we are at the pinnacle of the sport we’ll take it (word is TNZ might go back to Monos if they win the Cup)
For 2018 the kids will be also flying here in Buenos Aires with the Nacra 15 for the Youth Olympics.

Europeans Spring 2017 Results:
On the conditions many asked, check video above…!
The organizer at Circolo Vela Arco could launch one race on Friday which was done in strong breeze,  Kuba Surowiec finished second behind Vittorio Bissaro, third place was for Coen de Koning, Sergio Mehl 4th  and Emmanuel Dodé 5th.

Saturday two more races held with similar wind conditions. Kuba won the first ahead of Mischa Heemskerk (who had a dnf first race) , 3rd for Vitto , 4th Lorenzo Bianchini and 5th for Mehl.
Second race of the day was for Mischa , Surowiec 2nd, Vitto again 3rd along Lollo and Mehl closing top 5.  Mehl reports Vitto & Lollo going for it  flying  upwind as the videos we’ve seen from their training with Martin Flores.

With no races held on Sunday due to lack of wind, overall position suffered no modifications giving Kuba Surowiec the title , Bissaro second and our best A-Cat representative, Sergio Mehl in third place.
Nice to see Sergio at a Catamaran podium finally abroad (Windsurf podiums already in) as the guy is Fast. More to come without a doubt in the future.

On the equipment used at Garda, Sandro on the G7 had some issues with the high traffic area (plenty wsurfers) the first day, Sat he scored  6 & 12. But some eye opener training were done in the week in less harsh conditions where performance arise fully. The feedback I have is G7 2017 upwind is a weapon in the mid range, just where you need to decide to go foiling mode upwind is worth it.

On the top 5 it was Exploder D3 for Surowiec and Bissaro. Mehl with a brand new F1 painted after our flag colors as seen shot above.  Coen F1, and those scoring  two top 5 results but missed race 1 were Mischa on F1/Mischa Sail and Bianchini on a D3.

Biggest event for 2017 will be A-Class Worlds to be held at Sopot in August, official web: aclassworlds2017.pl/
