Phaedo wins class in Transpac 2015
“Lloyd Thornburg and the crew of his blood orange Gunboat 66 Phaedo came from behind in the final hours of the 2015 Transpac to win the Multihull Divison 0 of the classic biannual race. And Thronburg admits the win is just a little sweeter since he and his team had to come all they way back from being dismasted in the 2013 Transpac.

“It’s been two years and a lot of work,” Thornburg said shortly after they docked in Honolulu. “It wasn’t looking too good for a big part of the race. But good things can happen when you hang in there.”

Now that Thornburg has raced well over 5,000 miles in July alone–recording the fastest elapsed time in the Transatlantic race on his MOD 70 Phaedo3, and winning his class in the Transpac–he’s going to rest. But only for a moment. He’s headed back to Cowes to race on Phaedo3 in the Fastnet race in mid August.”
