Bissaro/Sicouri 1 pt behind in second and Besson/Riou 3rd. Too much DNCs & DNFs and no additional data for many crews. I will update tomorrow with more details.
Edit: ISAF report:
"Taming the Nacra 17 beast came as a challenge to many of the 49-boat Mixed Multihull fleet. With gusts hitting the 30 knot mark, thrills and spills were inevitable and that was certainly the case with as many as 26 boats either unable to finish the second race or deciding enough was enough in advance of the start."
A night of boat work and maintenance will be in order for several of the competitors whilst leaders Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders (NZL), Vittorio Bissaro and Silvia Sicouri (ITA) and Billy Besson and Marie Riou (FRA) will all rest easy after a job well done from three races.
Iker Martinez , on a break from the Volvo Ocean Race Team Mapfre, is back to the Olympic arena now with Marina Lopez. Also from Spain and last Olympic Tornado Champ, Fernando Echevarri is reported racing in Miami with Tara Pacheco, ex Iker crew, they are currently in 13 pos. Iker is 15th.
So now we have the last 3 Olympic Tornado Medalist racing in the Nacra 17: Echevarri, Darren Bundock & Santi Lange.
Regarding the US teams Sarah Newberry has parted ways with John Casey who is now helming with Kristen Lane. Sarah is now sailing with one of the best crews around and third at last 2014 F18 Worlds, Matthew Whitehead.
