Australian F18 Nats 2013 NOR: January 26-28, Lake MacQuaire

NOTICE OF RACE – ORGANIZING AUTHORITY
The 2013 F18 Australian National Championship will be organized by the Australian F18 Catamaran Association with Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club (MPASC) the conducting authority, un-der the authority of the YA and ISAF.  Photo Andrea Francolini

1: RULES
The regatta will be governed by the following rules:
1.1 The ISAF racing rules of sailing 2009-2012 (RRS)
1.2 The Australian F18 Catamaran Class rules.
1.3 the prescriptions and special regulations of Yachting Australia Inc will apply

2: ADVERTISING, BOW NUMBERS
2.1 Boats may be required to display bow numbers and advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority.

3 ELIGIBILITY
3.1 All competitors shall meet the requirements of RRS 2009-2012
3.2 All competitors shall be members of their National F18 Association, and their current year membership fees shall have been fully paid and verified.
3.3 Any competitor under the age of 18 years will be required to obtain parental/guardian consent prior to commencement of championship.
3.4 The regatta is open to all boats with current measurement certificate of the F18 Catamaran class, Please note no measurements or certificates will be issued at the event.

4 ENTRY
4.1 Eligible boats can enter by completing the online entry form on the F18 website at www.ausf18.org.au Entry will be open as of 1st November 2012 and close 15th January 2013. Fees will be at the following rates and payable day of registration 25th & 26th January 2013.
4.2 The F18 Catamaran Class will be allocated there own division.

5 FEES
5.1 The required fee is fixed at $140 per boat. Late entries accepted or received after 15th January 2013 will be charged an extra $50.
5.2 After 15th January 2013 deadline, late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organiz ers. Late entries will be charged an extra $50. On top of the noted fees in item 5.1.

6 COURSE
6.1 The regatta will be held on the enclosed waters off Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club on the waters of Lake Macquarie NSW.

7 SCHEDULE
7.1 Registration: Friday 25th January 2013, from 17.00 to 20.00 and Saturday 26th Jan 2013 from 8.00 to 9.30.
7.2 Measurement and inspection: Friday 25th January 2013, from 17.00 to 20.00 and Saturday 26th Jan 2013 from 8.00 to 9.30.
7.3 Dates of racing;
FRIDAY 25th January 2013—
Practice race course may be set up if resources allow.
SATURDAY 26th January 2013— Competitors meeting at 10.00
Race warning signal not before 11.00am
SUNDAY 27th January 2013—Race warning signal not before 10.00
MONDAY 28th January 2013—Race warning signal not before 10.00

7.4 Number of races 10 max.

8 MEASUREMENT
8.1 Boats may be subject to inspection at any time during the event. The procedures for
inspections will be specified in the sailing instructions or event regulations.
8.2 The equipment limitations as specified in the class rules shall apply.

9 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
9.1 The sailing instructions will be available during registration on Friday 25th Jan 2013 and Sat 26th Jan 2013 at the registration desk.

11 COURSES
11.1 The courses will be windward leeward courses with a gate as per class rules
11.2 The approximate course length will be 1.2nm, aiming a target time of 45mins for the first boat to finish.

12 PENALTY TURNS
12.1 Rule 44.1 will apply, and is changed so that the two turns penalty is replaced by the one turn penalty.

13 SCORING
13.1 The low point system of Appendix A will apply.
13.2 One (1) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
13.3 When fewer than four (4) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
13.4 When four (4) to seven (7) races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of her races excluding her worst score.
13.5 When eight (8) to ten (10) races have been completed, a boats series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her 2 worst scores.

14 BERTHING
14.1 Boats can be kept in their assigned places in the boat park at Mannering Park Amateur
Sailing Club.

15 PRIZES
Prizes will be given as follows
15.1 Trophies will be awarded to the helmsman and crew of the top 3 finishing boats.
Minimum 5 entries to form a class
15.2 The committee may award more prizes at their discretion.

16 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
16.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk
16.2 See RRS rule 4, Decision to race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for
material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
16.3 All those taking part in these races do so at their own risk and responsibility. Specific attention is drawn to RRS 2 which states, “the responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue is hers alone”.
16.4 Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club, the Australian F18 Association, sponsors, the race committee and other race officials are not responsible for any damage or injury either afloat or ashore.
16.5 Mannering Park Amateur Sailing Club, the Australian F18 Association, sponsors, the race committee and other race officials are not responsible for the seaworthiness of a boat whose entry is accepted or the sufficiency or adequacy of it’s equipment.
16.6 The establishment of the Notice of Race (NOR) and the Sailing Instructions (SI) in no way
limits or reduces the complete and unlimited responsibility of a competitor being solely and
entirely responsible for the management of a boat he/she is sailing.

17 INSURANCE
17.1 All boats shall carry public liability insurance to the valve of at least $5 million (Recommended $10 million) All boats entered are deemed to carry this insurance and it’s the skipper’s
responsibility to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
