iSharesCup Amsterdam: Night repair job

This is extreme racing and reparing too, nice work puting Oman back on water while others were resting.

If you build it, they will come...

Above: Me crewing Julito Saubidet on the RC F18 I and Build procces from cad , July 2005.
"If you build it, they will come... " Never more true for the F18 and Multihull racing in Argentina.
In July 2005 I decided to build my own F18, the rest is history and now the big boys are arriving.
As told before, we´ve never had any F18 here, now 2 crews already went to 08 and 09 Worlds and they sailed and saw the big brands racing 1st hand.
Yesterday I saw live an Infusion for the 1st time! ajaja What a machine! and the Cap is almost ready too, it is a great feeling being able to fullfill a dream, having a local class and cat racing at home, and now this is getting better every day!
And some Wildcats are being imported soon too, I'd better hurry with my new wp design...

Below yesterday assembly of the 1st 4 Infusions in Argentina

Below:Argentine Capricorn mould process

Canadian F18 Nationals

37 Boats registered, this F18 thing is going huge world wide.
My prediction is that the class will out number in time other monohull fleets at major championships with Laser and Optis at the top.
The future is Catsailing , but don´t tell isaf...

iShares Cup Amsterdam: Gitana Extreme 1st

Photos: Thierry Martinez Sea&Co
From isharescup.com
"The best breeze of the day filled in for the final three races today producing some extreme racing - close calls, collisions, penalties and a final double-points race decider - keeping the 10,000 strong crowd entertained on the IJ-Haven. 7 different race winners in this penultimate event that was more about tactics than boat handling. Gitana Extreme sailed brilliantly under pressure to win the iShares Cup Amsterdam event ahead of Renaissance whilst whilst Groupama fought back win the final race and take 3rd. Overall series leaders, Oman Sail Masirah, put their day 1 disaster behind them, to finish 5th and retain their overall lead going into the final iShares Cup event in Almeria just 2 weeks away..."

iSharesCup Amsterdam: Training Day

iSharesCup: Amsterdam

Nice VX40 training video from John Casey, check deck activity with calm wind and imagine work with extreme conditions...
JC, Sander Speet, Mischa, Bastiaan did about four hours of training with the Holmatro team to help get them ready for IShares Cup Amsterdam.

Press Release from Diana Bogaards
On Friday September 25, the Dutch Extreme 40 Team Holmatro will line up for the start of the iShares Cup series in Amsterdam/Netherlands. Skipper Mitch Booth (NED) and his crew have been training in Muiden since last week. They worked with sparring partners to maximize the outcome of their preparation. They also competed against the triple Dutch F18 Champions Heemskerk and Tentij on the IJsselmeer. From September 25-27, the fleet of nine multihulls will race each other in the Amsterdam IJhaven.

"Our goal is to improve on Kiel", said Booth. Team Holmatro started the German series with a bullet and finally finished seventh. Booth continues: "That was only one place better than the team's best result so far in this season. There are nine boats racing this weekend and so much can go wrong on a small course like in Amsterdam. That is why we are not aiming for a defined target, but our objective is to better our performance. We are certainly a lot more prepared."

The Dutch quartet trained hard on the IJsselmeer at Muiden: "There were three more Extreme 40's. Mischa Heemskerk and Bastiaan Tentij returned from the Dutch F18 Nationals that they won again. They teamed up with John Casey (USA) and Sander Speet (NED) on the Extreme 40, which gave us strong competition. We are practicing with them and sharing information. And we have been lucky with the light conditions. I expect the same circumstances in Amsterdam."

Improving every day: Looking back at his return to Team Holmatro in Kiel, Booth concludes: "We have to keep practicing. The mix of co-ordination, communication and teamwork makes the difference." The Australian born with Dutch passport is happy with the progress they are making: "It takes time to make a good team, but I am more than pleased with the way it is unfolding. Every day we go out, is improvement. We have excellent sailors and the boat is very well maintained and prepared. We have a fair chance of climbing the ladder."

Team Holmatro will be crewed by skipper Mitch Booth, main trimmer Pim Nieuwenhuis (NED), trimmer Mark van Gelderen (NED) and mastman/grinder Ed van Lierde (NED). www.teamholmatro.com

AC 33: Six months for the Match (?)

Photos: Bruno Cocozza/Alinghi
Alinghi 5 last sail at Genoa, hope we can see her racing in six months after politic and legal bs ends, cause to the lawyer battle now we have our isaf friends involved in another fiasco, this time with "rules" , I mean, no rules at all... forget about Alinghi vs BOR fan issue, isaf should never get involved in secret agreements with any party, and if so they must guarantee fair racing if participating in any sailing event.

F18 Dutch Nationals: 2010 will be the one?

This guys are almost tired of winning, they are just short of one Worlds, too close on 2008 and 2009. For the 10th anniversary of the class maybe Mischa and Bastian will have what they already deserve: an F18 Worlds Championship at last.

Win a spot to race VX40!
