F18 Worlds 2009: Coen de Koning World Champ x2

Check Hugh Styles face..

No one hit wonder for Coen, great consistence in every condition.
Deserved World Champion along with his new crew Thijs Visser, and of course what can I say about Rob Wilson and Marcus Lynch???
Check previous posts or the Shockwave label, they were coming , the ‘dark horse’ completed the task and only got 2nd after matching race by race against de Koning to define the Championship. Feel bad for Mischa though, too close again.

Great blog Martin, many thanks for collecting and commenting on the info. One question, though. I haven't read the NOR/SI, but the discard seems a bit weird to me on the gold fleet. Why didn't Mischa get his bfd discarded?
    Cheers

  2. Martin says:

They didn´t discard the BFD on the last race because they only completed 3 Final races.

And the NOR says, from 4 to 6qualifying regattas one discard allowed for that stage only.

Then for the Finals, 4 regattas must be completed for a new discard and only 3 raced.

So each discard correspond only to each stage of the championship, that´s why ALL discards are from intial 6 races.

    NOR

13.4. Over 80 boats, when each group completes 4 or more qualifying races, a boat’s words score in the qualifying races will be excluded. The score of all qualifying races except those excluded will be valid. When 4 final races have been completed, a boat’s worst score in the final races will be excluded. The final score of every boat will be the sum of scores, except those excluded in the qualifying and final races.

Thanks for digging that up. And sorry for my laziness…
